  • Trekking to Ratangad fort is one such activity you can go for to have more fun in your journey. Ratangad fort is one of the best forts in Maharashtra located in Ratanwadi village. It is 4 hrs which will make you pass through thick forests across the Pravara river. Another trekking route which you can go for is Harishchandragad fort offering the three peaks of Rohidas, Taramati and Harishchandra. The trek will make you pass through green forests and rocky patches hence giving you panoramic views of the surroundings. You can even choose to camp on this peak when trekking 5 kms. 
  • Boating at Bhandardara lake is another major activity where the lake also serves as a reservoir for the Wilson dam, one of the oldest dams in India. The lake is also known for Arthur lake surrounded by the green forests of Sahyadri hills. Boating experience will surely make you relieved with the spectacular surroundings and placid waters. 

Other major attractions to look for include Ghatghar, Mt kalsubai, Umbrella Falls and Sandhan valley.

 

Itinerary: 

Day 01- Pickup from Mumbai and then to Bhandardara

The Bhandardara camping tour begins from the pick up of Mumbai. On the way to Bhandardara you can stop at Igatpuri town to enjoy the delicious lunch. On reaching the campsite enjoy the magnificent vistas of the surrounding landscape and the activities. Later after setting up the tents you can admire the sight of the setting sun as different shades of orange and red play at the horizon. As darkness comes over you enjoy bonfire and enjoy the aura with some dance and music. And then you transfer to your tent and enjoy sleeping under the blanket of stars.

Day 02- Bhandardara to Mumbai 

The next day you wake up watching a beautiful sunrise in the midst of lush hills and serene lake. Later you can enjoy roaming around cherishing the landscape and then afterwards leave for Mumbai.

How to reach:

Now to reach Bhandardara you can travel either by train or by road. The nearest railway station is Igatpuri which is 45 kms from Bhandardara. You can then take a cab or bus after reaching the station. By road it is easily accessible to reach the campsite.
